Fiji: Ocean Connections (Plymouth City Museum and Art Gallery)
10/10/2015 - 16/1/2016
Opened on Fiji Day 2015, this newly-developed world cultures exhibition explores the surprising connections between Plymouth and Polynesia. Over a hundred artefacts from the Pacific island of Fiji have travelled to the Museum since the late 1800s. On display are a selection of these, including barkcloths, weapons, shells and jewellery.
As well as highlighting aspects of island life, ‘Fiji: Ocean Connections’ will show the complexity and beauty of Western Polynesian art and culture, investigating how oceans connect Plymouth with the Pacific.
